Carlos Riaz is the Project Coordinator for the New York, NY market. After graduating college with a degree in Human Resource Management, Carlos spent 4 years working in the HR department of a large law firm in New York. During his tenure in human resources, Carlos discovered his favorite aspect of the job was his interaction with the lawyers. His “people skills” and his love for the legal arena were 2 characteristics that drew Carlos to legal recruiting. His desire to work with a top-notch, well-respected recruiting firm where he would have an opportunity to assist lawyers in reaching their career goals led him to GLI.
Carlos’ human resource background and law firm experience assist him in coaching lawyers throughout their position search process. Carlos takes a personal interest in helping each candidate determine what their “perfect law firm job” is and then strive to locate that opportunity. “Every candidate’s “dream job” is different, so it is imperative that I listen intently to get a full understanding of what he/she is looking for.
Carlos was attracted to GLI because of the firm’s principled and progressive methodology. “I remain impressed by the level of personal attention GLI recruiters gives their candidates. These lawyers genuinely have representatives working on their behalf in the marketplace; people going the extra mile to locate opportunities that not just met but exceeded their expectations each and every time. THAT IS recruiting at its best”.
Carlos is an mad arts buff, so when he’s not working with candidates, you can usually discover him checking out the newest exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the latest opera at the Metropolitan Opera, an interest he shares with Maria, his wife of 7 years. Carlos and Maria also stay very busy with their twin 3-year-old sons, Javier and Miguel.

Nancy Grimes and the GLI team are wonderful to work with. My first experience with GLI was for one of our most difficult searches. Nancy took a significant amount of time working with both the partner in charge and the recruiting department to get a thorough understanding of what we were looking for and did a bang-up job selling the firm to prospective candidates. With her intense enthusiasm and thorough marketing plan, Nancy produced several viable candidates who met all the items on our “wish list”. That was a very rare occurrence. She’s truly unmatched in her knowledge of the industry and the Philadelphia legal market and is extremely diligent and responsive. We’ll definitely work with Nancy to fill future openings, especially the difficult ones!
Consider Our Track Record…
GLI has achieved great success by following our state-of-the-art process time after time. The objective of any search assignment is always the same: to match a client’s specific need with the ideal candidate in a mutually beneficial manner for both parties. GLI considers it part of the assignment to overcome any obstacles which separate the parties, whether they’re financially or emotionally rooted. For a full year after each successful placement, GLI conducts regular follow-up with both the client and candidate to ensure we have, in fact, performed the assignment successfully.
Foundation Christian Academy (FCA) is hosting its 2nd Annual Benefit Dinner on Tuesday May 17th, 2011 at the Sloan Convention Center. GLI and Nancy Grimes are crazy supporters of the community.
